What is an LED strip light?
An LED strip light is a slimline, flexible circuit board, installed with light emitting diodes. This kind of lighting is becoming increasingly popular in all kinds of installations. LED strip is easy to install, easy to control, easy to power, has an exceptionally long lifespan and modernises any room!
Before you purchase your LED strip lights there are some considerations:
- Consult an established LED strip light specialist / Electrician for advice on your project.
- Ensure the products you are purchasing carry all relevant certifications.
- Look for LED strip with high CRI (colour rendering index) CRI 80+ is considered good.
- Look for a strip light that offers a long lifespan.
Think about your project:
What is the length or the area you want to illuminate. This is a significant factor before purchasing. Our LED strip can run for 5 to 24 metres in any single run giving you more flexibility with longer run lengths of LED strip lighting.
Variations in colour can influence the ambience of a room. Warm white usually offers a more warm, caring light, natural white better for concentration and cool white for areas where bright crisp lighting is required.
Lumen out-put. The higher the lumen out-put, the brighter the light. High lumen out- put LED strip light is beneficial in that you can dim accordingly using dimmer modules but you can't make a low lumen tape brighter. It is advisable to look for an LED strip with a decent lumen out-put for a brighter light, anything from 1200 lumens per metre is good for required brighter lighting.
Size and quality of LED chip. Higher end LED chips not only perform better but they also last a lot longer too!
LEDS per metre. This matters if you want to avoid spotting or visible dots once the LED strip is installed. More LEDS per metre in an LED strip offer a bar of light effect.
